Over training & Injuries

I was updating my facebook page and noticed a certain post, this post was by a runner ( who shall remain nameless ) stating they were injured (AGAIN) and this lead to this article.

Its around this time of year within the running community that you start to hear the stories of people suffering with what we like to call running related injuries. The problem is not that we run too much; it is the opposite.  Because so many of us have sedentary lifestyles, including long hours sitting in chairs, we develop weaknesses and imbalances which then cause problems when we run.  So the underlying cause of overuse injuries is generally not running (though it is running that triggers the symptoms), but the deterioration in the strength and flexibility in our bodies which prevent us from running efficiently and without pain.  Fortunately, many of these problems are easy to fix, if you get the right advice and tackle the underlying causes rather than the symptoms you can enjoy your running without any risk of injury.  Sadly, all too few of us know how to do this properly.

My job as a coach is to give each and everyone of my clients the tools required to complete their goal efficiently and injury free, my methods are not necessarily conventional but they are based on fact and evidence based training research. There is a method in my madness and i stick by my coaching principles. I work closely with a local Physio and sports Therapist at Back 2 Best Sorts injury and Rehabilitation Clinic.

Both myself and Arron deal with a lot of runners with common injuries that are gained by overtraining and the lack of strength & conditioning work. This can clearly be avoided. We are here to help you as an athlete. All our athlete programmes are written for the individual and tailored toward the athletes ability and to target their weaknesses. Whilst writing your programme we take a whole body approach and along side the running programme we can write a strength and conditioning programme to help keep you injury free.
